It’s an awesome feeling to have perfectly polished nails for weeks on end; no chips, no nothing. But removing that gel nail polish is something else. Once they do start waning then it takes everything in or power not to rip it all off. Doing so would damage our nails and that’s why removing gel nail polish with care is imperative.
Here are a few methods you can try yourself; whichever method you pick, remember to use Vaseline as a protective layer against all the acetone that will be used for removal and also take care to moisturize your nails right after. Another point to bear in mind is to wait a few hours before you re-apply nail polish to the cleaned nails.
BUY A KIT: These kits come fully prepared to help you in removing the gel nail polish, just the soaking pads vary by the brand; some may have foils while others may have cotton tapes that make it easy for you to use your fingers while they soak.
FOILS: First, buff the top layer of your gel painted nails to remove the shine. Take a cotton ball and soak it with acetone. Dab the acetone on your nail and quickly wrap it in your kitchen foil. Let it soak for 10-15min and you’ll see that the gel will come right off. Remember to apply a good nail cream to moisturize the surface.
SOAKING: This is a hassle free method. All you need is warm water in a big bowl and acetone in another smaller bowl to soak your fingers. Using warm acetone, buff your nails and then soak for 10-15min. The gel will slide off easily. If not, use an orange wood stick to scrape the remainder off gently.
